It is important to remember that each of us has a unique talent that needs to be brought forth to help others and to fulfill our self-expression. Faith and love cast out fear. Lose the fear and launch your product or service anyway. Not only is the world waiting for yours, but there may be people who need right now what you have to say. I have found this out in the past few days, and it was astounding to me that my voice could have long-range good consequences for the people involved.
Please don't wait to get your expression out there. Trust that the Creator made you the way you are so that you can make a difference.
One of the useful conversations I had in this area was regarding current talent and recognition. I thought about Diana Krall, a jazz great, and Maureen McGovern, who has perfect pitch and an amazing gift for vocal interpretation. Neither of them is a regular household name, but both excel in their particular realms and both have a unique following. The same is true for authors, engineers, artists, pole dancers, activists for various causes, and so forth. It doesn't matter that the whole world may not know you because you will be important for a certain set of people (Seth Godin calls this your "tribe"). This is your audience. A product or service that is supposedly for "everyone" is really for nobody, for it will be too generic or vague or not edgy enough to make a difference.
So go make a difference. Listen to feedback only from those who get what you're doing, not those in the stands or the Monday morning quarterbacks who were never on the playing field. You are the one with the courage to do this. I'm with you!
