Custom Songs
Everyone knows of a moment when he or she heard a song that brought back a very powerful memory. Songs do that. They bring meaning and beauty to our lives. They bridge the gap between how we feel and what we can actually speak. Music's healing, restorative, motivating, uplifting, and calming powers are legendary.
A new arrangement can bring life into an old song or favorite tune. There are also revered hymns that can have a part added for a particular instrument. TRUE STORY: When I was a church choir director in California, one of our members had had a stroke and wasn't able to play the violin with her usual panache. I wrote a simple accompaniment she could play while our choir sang, and it was a triumphant day for her to be able to play that violin part in public. Music can empower us in so many ways! ANOTHER TRUE STORY: When we lived in Las Vegas, I helped a music teacher create a school song for her elementary school. After that, I was asked to write school songs for other elementary schools, as the district was building 12-14 new ones every year (yes, there were that many people relocating to LV in 2002). The new songs debuted at the opening ceremony for each school, and it was great to be part of their history. Consider having a song written to commemorate a special event or occasion in your life. Feel free to contact me to talk about the possibilities for the ultimate personal statement. |
Custom MusicOne of the best parts about being a musician is sharing special events with others. A favorite gig of mine is to play "background" music for a special occasion, such as a party or fundraiser gala or wedding, among others.
Choose what you'd like to hear at your own event, such as mellow jazz, light classical, songs from a certain decade (40's, 50's, 80's, etc.), or from certain composers of Broadway musicals to the Great American Songbook. You could even host your very own sing-along party or have an event around a particular theme with music to match. The possibilities are endless. A special feature of my keyboard is that it doesn't go out of tune. Having a tuned instrument is important because people will notice if the pitches are "off." Another feature of my keyboard is that it has different voices, so you can hear some songs played on typical acoustic pianos, but you can also hear songs with a lovely electric piano sound, or organ, or harpsichord, or any of those instruments with string bass in the left hand. It almost sounds as though you hired a combo! Contact me to set up a discussion of how custom music can enhance your next event or party. Consider things like the acoustics of the space, at which points you will want music, when you need quiet for announcements or speeches, and balance between instruments. Nonprofit fundraisers may also want to use a purchase order or require an invoice. Good planning makes it all work out! |
