Prayer to Heavenly Father - Voice/Instrument
A child's heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving, love, repentance and trust, this simple song is very easy to learn. The ostinato accompaniment can be played by children on piano, guitar, xylophone, or single-pitched instruments like handbells, woodblock drums, or tone bells. It is based on scriptures from John, Mosiah, Alma and D&C 59:21.
Whither Thou Goest - SATB and Piano
With text from Ruth 1:16, this modal anthem has a spare quality that is simple yet profound.
Always Remember Him - Women's Choir (Soprano I/II, Alto), Soprano Soloist, and Piano
Written as an affirmation of hope following the events of September 11, 2001, this anthem is a beautiful call and response piece with text from the Gospel of John and Revelation 3:20.
Easter Introit - SATB and 2 Trumpets
This short antiphonal piece can have placement of SATB and one trumpet on each side of the church or venue where it is to be performed, or it can be performed in one group.
That I Might Go Forth - Voice/Piano, Voice/Guitar, Voice/Horn/Piano
This piece, based on Alma 29:1-9, won the 2002 Jackman Music Competition and is available in an a cappella SATB version from the publisher. Several arrangements of this anthem are available, as well as a piano accompaniment to augment the published SATB version. Click on the link to go to a new page where you can hear a sample of it.
Open Your Mouths and They Shall Be Filled - SATB and Piano
The third place winner in the 2003 Jackman Music Competition, this missionary anthem features a rich-textured middle section with echoes among the different voices.
Blessed Are They - SATB and Piano
This anthem has text from Mosiah where the Lord affirms that we are his people.
Canticle of Promise - SATB, 3 Trumpets, Horn, and Organ
This is an extended anthem that acts out the shock, distress, and doubt of the disciples on the Saturday after the Savior's death on Calvary. The text is based on the accounts from Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and it also portrays the joy of the disciples and the faithful women on Easter Sunday.
My Work and My Glory - SATB, Horn, Handbells, and Organ
Based on the comforting words from Jeremiah 29:11 and Moses 1:39, this piece is a celebration of life. The haunting block chords of the choir are punctuated by the noble voice of the horn, the power of the organ, and the exquisite shimmer of the handbells.
Sonatina in G minor - Piano Solo
This little piano piece is hauntingly somber, as it was written the day after the only Christmas I ever woke up all alone. That was one of the saddest days of my life! Click here for a listen.
The Chain - Voice and Piano
This piece for voice and piano is based on the 5-line text from "The Chain," a story from The Fisherman and Other Parables by my friend Stavros Georgiou Stavropoulos.
